Who would you like to spend Christmas Day with?
Or which part of the day would you like to spend with whom?
I'd like Clarrie's Christmas Dinner. Proper cooking and real family.

I have the impression that Clarrie is a good cook, but I'd prefer Brian's company. So perhaps a drink in the Bull with Brian before lunch, lunch with the Grundys, then over to Jim's for some decent conversation and a couple of brandys.

And tea with Susan. (Ok, that's being nasty 'cos I'd be giggling inwardly at her pretentiousness)
Keeping well away from Kirsty's garishly lit house. I bet what's her name next door loves it.
You'd have Jazzer with Jim, of course. The Odd Couple.

Not much of a choice really -
Aldridges - good food and Brian is fun, but teeny tiny house now and there are the ghastly children - Kate etc., and mopey Phoebe.
Susan and Neil - high stress as Susan tries to get everything right.
Kirsty and whatshis name - I don't mind the lights but would we be served turkey and would we be made to feel guilty about plastic etc..
Grundy's - probably good food and good fun but first Christmas without Joe and what about the Emma n Ed situation- awkward.
Pat n Tony - would most likely have some weird food - turkey stuffed with lentils or such like, and Helen and Lee slobbering all over each other. Some potential for fun if Pat finds out about Tony's visit to Joy.
Elizabeth - presumably won't be at LL but if she is Russ would be there sliming and smugging his way through the day.
Brookfield - No. Just no.

Plod's House might be a good bet - and at least Mrs Plod can keep a good table - Even if she rcovered it from her Tat Shop.

It becomes a question of whom one would not want to be with. Sorry, of with whom one would not want to be. And into that category I'd put the Bridge Farm lot, the Brookfield crew, Lizzie, Russ and Lily, Kate and Jennifer. Lilian and the dawg would be fine, but not Justin.

I'm glad to see you're paying attention to your grammar, Judith. You won't be suspended.
Justin - no, no, no.

Nobody's mentioned Adam and Ian and the baby. (Why is Xander becoming so popular as a name? Yu probably gather I'm not keen on it. I'm not. Why do people give a child a name and then call them by another name? I know a couple who gave their daughter the name Amelie, to be called Lily. Why not call her Lily in the first place?)

Thought that might be the sort of response I'd get.
Don't seem to be many good options.
I started a thread like this in BBC ML. People made their suggestions. (The clique who wouldn't let anyone post anything positive about TA tried to sabotage it. They were told in no uncertain terms to leave us alone. They did.) There were plenty of good choices of places to go, a tour round the village through the day. Things have changed very much for the worse since then.

There are quite a few people with whom I'd be happy to spend Christmas, but rather more that I'd prefer to avoid, I'm afraid.

Has anybuddy hearing that whatever-it-is on the Electric Radio, Following The Archers.. Sounds Like some Demented Geezers With Donald Duck voices going on about Making their Christmas as Miserable as the rest of us. Think I'll go to bed.. I bloody hate this time of year and forced bon-homie, and bods doing their best to emphasise the stupidity of bloody miserable "holiday".

I must get a new keyboard - The "t" is a bit sulky ... There must be some keyboard oil?

The programme after TA was quite strange. John Shuttleworth, possibly? I think it's supposed to be "northern humour", but it's nothing that I recognise as northern!

Whatever language it is, it is Certainly Not Comedy. Couldn't The BBC re-run the election: It was much funnier.
