I see the enclave is still, not only Corona virus free, but apparently ignorant of the chaos in the rest of the world.
I bet they have toilet rolls 😡

Toilet Rolls ... It was bad when Catlitter became scarce, but although I have not encountered Toilet Roll shortage, I did get on a bus yesterday that seemed to have an argument/fight on board ... but No, it was mereley three fishwives, each several seats apart, making their private discutions becoming broadcast. Clearly they had to find alternatives to toilet tissue... Much involved wartime? Much more intensive daily newspapers; an election to receive much more electorial handouts; and .... No I won't go into that one .................

Caught up today with the Disaster at Grey Gables. I am guessing that the Script Writers were short of a good story and came up with this just before Coronavirus hit. Be interesting how they will work it in, but work it in they must. I did find it quite emotional, well acted by Freddie. And Robert.

The Grey Gables story will have been planned months ago, written and recorded weeks before we knew about Covid19.
And to insert topical references will be far too complicated. Other kinds of topical mentions don't demand a total rewrite of so many scenes.
If the pandemic were to be mentioned, there would be so many changes required: The Bull possibly closed, also the tearoom and possibly events at Lower Loxley; there would be talk of self-isolating and how that would work for the older residents; S. Stephen's would be closed; hospital visiting would be affected; younger parents would be wondering how to keep the children busy, and Ben wouldn't be in college. Those are just a few ways in which Ambridge would be affected. Even Susan's shop might run out of loo rolls, hand sanitiser and paracetamol. I can quite understand why they've not mentioned anything so far.

It's our escape into a fantasy world.

Apparently, The Archers will finally hear about the corona virus in May when we will be treated to people self isolating - yay no more scenes in the gym - with a reduced cast, recordings done in the casts' homes, and only 4 episodes a week.

It's a wonder they've caught up with the Black Death and aren't still recovering from that.

Actually, and I understand that most soaps are the same, I am hopeful that the storylines will be less ridiculous if the writers haven’t got to fill so many episodes. I know that this is probably a vain hope but you never know. I always felt that putting soaps on more than twice a week was a bad idea.

Might be a way of getting rid of some of the characters who have vanished from the scene. LL can be converted into a hospital.

At least Lynda won't have to put up with hordes of visitors any more.
