Hello again.
Thanks for all the messages of sympathy.
We're coping, having been expecting this outcome for some days. The nurse at the care home thinks FiL lived a day or so longer than expected because of the extra oxygen he was being given. I can hardly believe it was only a week ago that FiL was diagnosed.
YD is being comforted by Salem, her nursemaid cat. OH, who is pretty calm, rang his brother who was more upset at the news. They are very different characters. They have agreed that OH will deal with everything. He's retired and BiL isn't. OH will have to go to Salisbury this week to pick up the death certificate and register the death. We're using the same funeral directors and going to the same crematorium as when MiL died.
We've informed family and friends, and emails are flooding in.
There will be a maximum of eight of us at the funeral, depending on whether my elder niece's partner comes. He's living with the family because the plans to find their own place came to nothing thanks to lockdown. OH, YD and I will sit on one side of the aisle and the rest on the other. We can't go for a meal afterwards or even a coffee. Nothing is open. Strange times.
What passes for normal life still goes on. People, cats and chickens need to be fed, the washing machine loaded, dishwasher on...
Chicken report: three eggs, from Lottie, Dottie and Griselda.
Stay safe.

I'm very sorry for your family's loss and the particular difficulties of managing things during these strange times CP (and I too love the idea of a nursemaid cat)

Morning all! I have just spent 20 minutes looking for my Glasses. I live in a very small bungalow so you would think it be hard to lose them. Traipsing round and round, upturning Duvet, pillows and cushions. Asking my OH if he has seen them and getting his usual useless answer of ‘it’s wherever you put them’. So exasperating!
So for the forth or fifth time I go back into the lounge and say “ this is bluddy ridiculous, they MUST be here somewhere’ and he raises his gaze from the iPad Jigsaw that he’s obsessed with and I see he is wearing them😱😱😱
Not as a joke, he didn’t even notice Aaaaarrrgh!!

Greetings from cool and bright Oxfordshire. It's a lot better weather than yesterday's cloud and drizzle.
May the Fourth be with you! Yes, it's Star Wars Day.
OH has started on the long list of things to do and people to notify after FiL's death. My job has been to find some Cornish folk songs for the funeral. FiL's family came from Cornwall originally, and he did a lot of research into the family tree. I have found The Sweet Nightingale and Cornwall My Home, which OH thinks are good. The Floral Dance and Way Down To Lamorna were not considered as suitable by either of us!
YD has come up with another song, a serious one sung by the Wurzels - Mevagissey. We listened to it just now and all three of us became tearful. Some of FiL's family came from Mevagissey. Primrose over at Peet's has also suggested The White Rose. I thought that was going to be from Yorkshire, but it's Cornish.
Chicken report: three eggs, from Lottie, Dottie and Griselda.
Hagadapa.

It's rather dull weather here today. There is some breeze which I hope will dry the washing. I am distinctly lacking in GUAG today.

Morning, all. We've had a dull start weatherwise, but the sun is starting to appear and there's blue sky now. I think I might make some pastry today. GLO, I hope you're ok today.

Fins crossed he's OK.
Mini freezer ordered through Amazon was due to arrive between Thurs and Sat last week. It didn't. Now due between Sunday and tomorrow. Can't get any sense from the vendor as to which company is delivering it. I understand there are delays because of staffing but I would like up-to-date tracking information. We don't go out, only for exercise, but we can't do that together at the moment because someone has to be home. The seller won't get a good review from me about communication! Raining.

Greetings from warm, sunny and breezy Oxfordshire.
No sign of GLO yet? That's worrying.
Not a lot to report here.
OH is making and receiving phone calls and emails about FiL.
I have found a bottle of Piriteze syrup underneath some toothpaste in the bathroom cupboard. For the first time in over a week I am not sneezing and snuffling.
We have two bags of wholemeal flour, which arrived in the Lakeland order.
YD has photographed and set free a female poplar hawk moth which hatched last night from a pupa I found when repotting some plants. Its wings didn't pump up completely but we think that will not be too much of a problem because the male moths come looking for the females. YD had to take it up the farm because all four of our cats followed her into the front garden. They would have pounced on the moth and eaten it. We hope it finds the right sort of tree to lay eggs. There are several kinds of host trees, not just poplars.
Chicken report: three eggs again, from Lottie, Dottie and Griselda.
Stay safe.
