I have been to the hairdresser's this afternoon. It feels so good to have neat hair again. They have a new air conditioning system which was lovely on such a humid day. It partly counteracted the stifling feeling of wearing a face mask all the time.
YD and I spent about half an hour earlier brushing Honey, our ragdoll cross, cream-coloured, long-haired cat. Honey had been rolling in the dirt on the driveway and had picked up pine needles and bits of leaf and twig. She was not impressed and growled softly for much of the time. No sooner did we let her go than she ran outside and lay on the driveway again!
It feels very close again, but I can't see any nearby storms on the lightning map. At least I was able to walk to the hairdresser's and back without getting rained on.

I have heard thunder,,, No idea of its distance, but it is intermittent. But its over t'otherside of the Church-on-the-Hill. Have I upset someone? Hot an' Sticky here. I Desperately need my Beautysleep. No Rag-Doll to brush - But His Gingerness needs a Brush - Not certain if I'm brave enough to face the Lacerations - It is His way of telling me that He Had enough. Goodnight each...
Greetings from mild, muggy and overcast Oxfordshire. We had rain last night but no storms. We could well get a thunderstorm later.
It's not even certain that Oxford Christmas Market will be on, GLO. It would be difficult to do social distancing at its usual location.
I couldn't get in here earlier because my laptop was doing updates.
It's OH's 65th birthday. I'm making his favourite olive and anchovy pizza for dinner. YD will have plain and I'll have pepperoni pizza.
OH has returned from Faringdon where he picked up prescriptions. YD ordered hers several days after I ordered mine, but I had no notification (again) that mine was ready, though she did. Luckily it was, or I'd have run out of BP tablets tomorrow.
YD went online for her tutorial this morning only to find that her uni's computers are down, thanks to yesterday's thunderstorms in Oxford.
The boiler, which has been serviced, and mended twice recently, is now showing a symbol that means it's overheating again (for the second time). It had a new pump less than a fortnight ago, which should have solved the problem. The engineer has been called again. He's coming on Wednesday afternoon.
Chicken report: Pearl, Lilith and Lottie have laid eggs. Pearl's was perfect this time.

Thanks for the birthday wishes for OH. I made his favourite pizza for dinner - olive and anchovy. YD had plain pizza, and I had pepperoni pizza. We haven't had his birthday cake yet. We were all too full!
Greetings, villagers, from cool, grey and damp Oxfordshire.
Not a brilliant night here, worrying about ED and family (on-and-off 10 year relationship, broke down finally this week, or so we thought, but as of yesterday evening on again - for how long?). I was woken at 5.30am by an excited little girl being shushed by her mum. The neighbours were about to set off on holiday in their motor home. Then I overslept.
We are having a quiet day. OH finally unwrapped his birthday present (Black Sheep Brewery gin) having forgotten to do it yesterday. We still haven't eaten any of his birthday cake.
The five oldest Cookiekittens at CK3's birthday party last week: tinyurl.com/y3cs5vcl CK5 decided that because a lot of the children dressed up as princesses he was going to wear one of his sister's princess costumes too.
I liked this post on Twitter in response to those, particularly in the USA who are denying Coronavirus!
I have been hearing this from acquaintances. They think that if they don't know someone personally who had it, it's not a big deal. I don't know anyone who's been thrown through a windshield, but I STILL wear a seatbelt.
Your secrets are safe with me, I wasn't even listening
Greetings, villagers, from mild, cloudy and muggy Oxfordshire.
I'm late in after yet another rotten night. OH was snoring some of the time, but mostly I had washing machine mind about ED. OH left me to sleep late.
Today I'm tidying up for tomorrow's craft group meeting here. I also have to finish some crochet flowers to decorate JW's knitted scarf. I made a couple more last night before realising I'd picked up a crochet hook that was one size bigger than the previous one. Luckily nothing has to match perfectly.
Chicken report: two eggs, from Lottie and Lilith again.

Greetings, villagers, from cool, grey and damp Oxfordshire. The sun has appeared a few times, but we've also had a thunderstorm and torrential rain, which was not in the forecast until tonight. I can hear thunder again in the distance, coming closer from the south.
Having had rather too much white wine last night I slept like a log. It was very stressful messaging ED and DiL2 all evening. ED has had a terrible time lately with relationship problems. DiL2 has Facetimed me briefly today. We are going to have another talk later when ED and CK2 visit them for dinner and a possible overnight stay. It looks like the end of the road for ED's relationship with A.
I had to get up earlier than I would have liked because of hosting this morning's craft group meeting, and felt a bit rough. I'd made brownies and a fruit cake last night, both of which were popular. There were five of the six regulars today, as the other friend's husband is unwell and she didn't like to leave him. We had a lovely morning doing crafts and chatting. L was doing bead work, JW was teaching JA lace-making, JS was sewing a felt cat for her older granddaughter and I was crocheting a flower.
YD is working in her room. OH just had to dash out and get the washing in when the heavens opened.
Chicken report: one egg this morning, from Lottie. I haven't been out there again to look for more.
Morning. Had a busy few days getting things done that needed to be done. Some rain but no decent storm. We live in hope. Not been out much - local shopping yesterday for exciting things like cheese and sausages. We have an excellent bitcher/deli shop.
Now time to start watering the cyclamen. I ignore them all summer then about now one or two start to put up little leaves, so they all get a drenching and off they go. Flower all winter. Some I;ve had for years and years and they have seeded so they keep increasing. I need more windowsills.
This poster reserves the right not to have all her posts taken seriously.
Good morning, villagers, from cool and grey Oxfordshire.
A quick visit before OH and I go to Wallingford for a socially distanced meeting with my cousin, his nephew and wife and the new baby.
OH has returned from taking Honey to the vet. She has lost a bit more weight, even though we've been trying to feed her up. She weighs a kilo less than this time last year. All her tests were normal and there is no sign of a tumour, which was a possibility. The vet thinks the most likely problem is IBS, so she's now on a course of tablets (one per evening) and a special diet. This will be fun, trying to keep the other three cats out while she's eating. We'll have to shut her in a room on her own.
At least this problem can be solved, or at least alleviated. ED, however, did not really want to talk to anyone in last night's Facetime. She is in complete denial, gaslighted after yet another lengthy conversation with A. She left early and returned to the apartment with CK2. A had slept in his car the previous night. After ED left YS's house yesterday DiL2 dissolved into tears, so stressed. I'd done the same the night before as well as having too much wine. As YS and I both said, we just have to be there to pick up the pieces when the inevitable happens, which could be as much as ten years away, when CK2 is 18. I really did think ED had made up her mind this time, but no. He's re-made it for her. She hasn't even got a bank account in her own name only, though we've said it's a good idea, an escape fund. A has access to it, though she said he'd never clean it out, he's not like that, and he hasn't a bank card for the account. Cloud cuckoo land. She'll have to buy her car off him and refinance. Both cars are currently in his name. I'm not prepared to send her any money, except via one of her brothers. DiL1 is taking a back seat, because she's too upset about the situation. I slept fairly well, but not enough because it was half past two by the time YS and I stopped talking. I will not be posting about this again until there's a definite outcome.

Problem(s) there Cookie - Cats I understand, but people .... much too complicated
Was awoken at the crack of dawn with the alarm. It needed only minimal effort to thwart awakeness, BUT the clock still showed the same time - I think I must have wound the alarm instead of the time. I manage to sleep until the Crack of NOON.... The first decent sleep after some sleepless night I'm almost awake now - and just realizing how miserable being awake is... Perhaps someone can give me another alarm call in a few hours......
