Good morning, villagers, from cool and sunny Oxfordshire.
White rabbits!
It's ES's 47th birthday.
OH is waiting for emailed paperwork about FiL's probate.
I'm up and ready a bit earlier than usual, awaiting the arrival of The Knitted Map of Ambridge, which is being brought by a MLer who posts in Angie's. I'm knitting or crocheting the lanes and the river Am.
If all goes to time I may be able to get to Faringdon farmers' market before it closes. If not, oh well, there's always next month. It's not a big market anyway.
Just as I was going to bed last night there was scuffling and growling, and Jasper ran upstairs and into YD's room with a live dunnock, followed by Salem and later Honey. OH was already asleep so unable to help. YD, who had been in ED's old room, rushed out at my call to help me and caught the bird, which had scuttled, terrified, behind some boxes of art stuff. It didn't just peck but bit her twice, holding on to her hand and pinching the ball of her thumb. I distracted all the cats with a tin of food while YD released the bird into a tree in the front garden, disturbing a wood pigeon on the way. What a clattering of wings! We locked all the doors, keeping the four cats in (Marie slept through this) and went to bed.
Chicken report: no idea how many eggs, because Griselda is sitting in the nest box. Lilith laid an egg late yesterday. I found it when shutting the hens up.
Stay safe.

A lovely warm and bright day today! Washing is on the line. I went to the Metro Centre this morning, because I had a free gift and a voucher for Body Shop; I came home with £50 worth of stuff, but only actually paying £20.

Hello again. I have the Knitted Map of Ambridge! It looks wonderful, even in its unfinished state. Now to find some grey and blue yarns and start making the lanes and river. I forgot to say earlier that not only is it ES's birthday but it's also Z's 15th birthday. He is CK2's half-brother. My sister and her OH are at Housesteads Roman Fort today. Yesterday they went to Durham cathedral and castle, and then to "check their eyesight" YS blowing out the candles on his cake yesterday: tinyurl.com/y3ren283Chicken report No.2: two eggs, from Lottie and Griselda.

Greetings, villagers, from cool and mostly cloudy Oxfordshire. We've had drizzle this afternoon. I'm late in today after an unexpected but welcome visit from JA. She has admired the Knitted Map of Ambridge. tinyurl.com/y5yxag2eLast night's Zoom gardening club meeting went well, with about 18 people participating. OH went for his swim this morning and got a bit wet again this afternoon on his walk. YD has had her live stream. She is about to do the rendering on her final university project. Then all she has left is the writing up and any last minute tweaks. Today my sister and her OH have been to Penrith castle and are now in Keswick. ED, who broke a filling yesterday, has been to the dentist and had it fixed. She liked this one better than her old one, so has arranged to go back next month to have her troublesome wisdom teeth extracted. Chicken report: only one egg today, from Dottie. Stay safe.

A big day tomorrow, So is mine... For the first time, I have a "Telephone consultancy" with GP - I#m not convinced of what use that is?

Morning, villagers.
A gentle rumbling outdoors. Not distant thunder, but the bird-feeder against the wall as birds attack it.
For quite a while, my GP has arranged telephone calls with me rather than real (face to face) consultations. This started long before lockdown. It's OK if she just want to tell you to go to hospital for a blood test, and pick the form up from the clinic. Not so good if you need more of an examination.

I've been having telephone chats with my GP for ages now. I'm fortunate in that she's looked after me for 16 years and feels more like a friend. Depends on what I need to discuss whether she needs to see me in person. I shall arrange a phone call next week as I'm due for a medication review.
Overcast here.
Fins crossed, Steve.

I have a telephone consultancy with an optician next week. What he will be able to tell me about my cataract heaven knows. I think it's growing and want to be on a waiting list for the op, as there's no way I could have it done privately.

Does anyone remember when a GP visited ones house? As a Kid I had him examine me in my bed, but, He had been exploring Africa, and caught Sleeping Sickness, so during the wxam, He fell asleep on me...?
At a much later date, I was on a bus (a No 66a) when it braked hard as a Morris Minor pulled in front from a sideroad from the right. Yup, it was sleepy Doc again. I wonder how long He Lived!
I'm back - Just been interupted on phone from Surgery....!!

Oh yes, I remember the doctor visiting. And being taken to see him - in a room in his house. No purpose built surgeries then. But of course, people who were unwell often couldn't get to the doctor's without transport - few had cars then. Even in my teens, none of my immediate friends' parents had cars. We did from the time I was about 2 as Dad needed it for work. So the doctor had to make home visits.
