Hello all, We celebrated Three KingsΒ΄ Day today so our decorations stay up until tomorrow. It is going to look pretty bare tomorrow but IΒ΄ll be quite glad to hoover and tidy it away as itΒ΄s been up for about a month now. And yes, I realise that makes me sound really dull

It's not good at all - I am now looking for Aspirin, Sronger pain Killers, Something to lob at half-witted Hosp Consultant, and some advice on how to placate Ginger Moggy as I couldn't find a pressy for his 24th Birthday.

Good morning, villagers, from chilly Oxfordshire. We have freezing fog and the temperature will be below zero all day.
I stayed up very late watching events in the USA and talking to my family there. We are all appalled at what has happened.
The hedge trimmers arrived at 8.30am so I had to get up earlier than usual. I was in time for the Zoom coffee morning with JB and SM. JA wasn't there because she has had to go to the doctor's for more antibiotics for her chest infection. The first course has not worked.
Chicken report: Lilith has laid an egg.
Stay safe.

Hi Cookie.... Sorry for not paying attention - had a Mortgage bloke on the phone. I heard the Radio reports last night re Capitol... Without ventuyring into the Gory mess that America is: It seems to me that their Fine Upstanding President bloke is to Destroy the country that His Successor will never get it up to a viable state. ... and is succeeding quite well. I wonder why in a Country that idiolizes Gun power has allowed him to live... And why the richest country in the world did not have firehoses to quell the riot.
OK, not my department - back to mundane problems... Just in case anyone is pondering on why I'm spitting fire at a minor Hosp Op... In Nov I had a minor op at Local Hospital. It was a miserable failure. Consultant was to get me some nurse assistant - He didn't. Came up with his Right Hand Man (well, a woman actually). She did some bodging but that was all. Told to get advice from GP - She (GP)knew nothing about it. Consultant had not kept them in the loop. Got Age Concern to find a Nurse - She knew nothing about it, so is working only on my say-so. Got a Phone message as to why I hadn't turned up at a follow-up meeting - I didn't turn up because I knew nothing about it. Nursey tried to get Consultants instructions - He never got back to her. Consultant's Right-Hand Woman got me a Consultancy appointment with me for yesterday - albeit a telephone examination - He didn't contact me I DID get a call from another of his underlings instead - Consultant doesn't work on the day that He makes appointments. RH Woman just wanted me to tell her that "all was well" - It waasn't so she would get him to call me - He Hasn't.
Many years ago (in my working days) I was involved with setting up "Patient Services" - Latterly called P.A.L.S. (nationally, not my Local Hosp)- so sort out such problems and I have been onto them several times. Yup, a prompt reply but this sodding Insultant just stands aloof. Stand at ease, I've got over my hissy-fit.
Think I'll have some pills and go back to sleep.
Anyway, You lot still Havn't found me a present idea for His Gingerness (wish I had a fur coat like his).

Poor old you, GLO. No wonder you're so fed-up, annoyed and out of sorts. Sounds like a right mess-up. is Ginger Moggy really 24? That's a good age for a cat, isn't it? Could we knit him a woolly coat so you can have his fur one?

Re Ginger George. As a Kitten, A women acqured His Gingerness from a Re-homing place, as a Companion to Her Mother. She of course visited her Mum Daily, so Added to Her Mums appreciation of His Gingerness. Whe Her Mum went into a Care Home (re her Dementia), Daughter took over the keeping of George. But ... In a longer period of Being in Georges Company, she found that She was allergic to cats in a Long term, so She wanted a good home for him. She had bought him for her Mum nine years earlier, but of course, Didn't know his actual Date of Birth. When I got him a Vet's annual check up, the vet (Who was also a Horse Doc) reckoned that the best bet was to take his Birthday as 1st day of the year - just as his Midwiffery Horsey Coleauged did? Thus 1st Jan is unofficially his birthday, and He is now 24?
George was a Very difficult cat to get accustomed too, and I suspect that He had an unhappy Childhood ... err ... Kitenhood. I consulted My (then) Boss's wife who told me that one of her moggies was also very reicent to relax, because (as she thought) that Her moggy might have been Kicked or mis treated. I followed Basia's instructions to Lock him in his own room, and ignore him. - I read several Biggles Books whilst ingnoring him, and eventually came to lay beside me.
When I gave him the run of the house, He still kept his distance but would spend hours sitting at the top of the stairs watching me - Thats how he Came to have the Photo looking down on me that I posted in a former Cat Club Mustard...
Yes, I did mention to George's Vet that He was Very old.... Vet says that they have feline patients well into their late twenties.
When I was a Kid (YES, I was once) cats only lived to about three or four years old: but Vet reckoned that Cat food was better now. When I was a kid, the only catfood was "Kit-Kat" in those after-war Meat rationing days and was a sort of pink/grey sludge made with a lot of chalk. .... But what do I know.
Gotta go: an irrascible 24 year old is shouting at me in his best alleycat yell

Well, a remarkable and worrying start to the New Year. Our region has βrampantβ coronavirus outbreaks causing me and OH to remain in our home, apart from daily walk and compulsory shopping. I guess they did always say that winter would be worse but it seems they neglected to say how much worse.
I intend to stay in my home as much as possible and advise everyone to do the same. Stay safe everyone. We isolate now so that when we can get together again no one is missing

Itβs just above freezing today and the fog has lifted, but itβs still overcast and gloomy.
I slept very late, making up for yesterdayβs early start. OH went for his walk this morning. YD tried to help him put the boxes of Christmas decorations up in the loft but has pulled a shoulder muscle, so I handed the boxes up instead.
Chicken report: Lottie has laid an egg.
Stay safe.

No frost but cold and dull. Aiming to finish a pullover for me in the next couple of days. Just got a few rows on the sleeve, knit a long warm polo neck collar and sew it all up. Then make a matching one for Merman. We've never had 'his and hers' pullovers but I got a lot of the yarn some years ago and have just got round to knitting it. Random yarn of browns, grey, purple, pale blue and a bit of turquoise. Heather moorland colours.
Treat tonight -fishcakes and chips from the local chippie. We really are living it up.

An inch or two of snow overnight but very little since. Shopping done so that's us going nowhere for a day or five. I must try to find some GUAG, but right now I have no energy and from time to time get weepy for no reason.
