Hmph.
I'll have to put my knitting needles down long enough to write this.
Welcome to The Village Pump, a new site set up be me, Orion/Mermaid, offering people another place to chat about all subjects under the sun - including The Archers.
(I am aware of happenings on other sites but I am not prepared to comment on or discuss them.)
The site is now up and running but there is still work to be done.
At present there is only one colour scheme but I know that different eyes need different colour schemes. If there is a particular colour that would make it easier for you to read this site, please let me know and I'll set up a scheme to suit you. And even if there's a colour you simply prefer, let me know. (ones make reading easier will take priority)
I've added an assortment of smilies, some of which have been used elsewhere. The collection isn't complete yet, so ideas and suggestions welcome. Some are rather large, but I'll be working on them to reduce the size now I've discovered how to do such clever things.
At present we haven't got a tame Snork - the one on other sites is copyright and no-one at present is in a position to give permission to use it.
However, I am searching for a friendly snork who will be willing to be the Face of The Snork in TVP.
As well as me, there is a team of moderators, people I have known for a long time but they have virtually nothing to do as everyone is so well behaved.
Another issue which arises is that of appropriate language.
Some people regularly use what others consider swearing and gutter language. This language can make those others feel uncomfortable.
No-one should be put off being a member here because of language they find unacceptable.
Therefore I am asking those who are apt to use 'bad' language to respect those who do not like it and to use alternative words.
A little effort = a lot of courtesy.
Initially we will not have language filters, but should people overstep the mark, asterisks will appear instead.
Traditional TA 'euphemisms' are, of course, acceptable.
And, long though it is, please read the Code of Conduct.
Finally, make yourselves at home and I hope you will be happy here. Any concerns you have which prefer not to discuss on the Wooden Bench by the Pond, pm me about them in my Orion persona.
Enjoy yourselves
