I'm into PreRaphaelite art and want to visit Brig O'Turk where Millais painted John Ruskin. I remember reading about Helen Duncan some year ago, didn't she have some psychic doodahs during the second world war? Haha I think she had some cheesecloth stuffed up her nostrils! The ectoplasm craze of the early twentieth century got her bad. There is a brilliant picture of her with something like that and a crude cardboard looking drawn face. Crimes, if people thought that was a manifesting spirit they must have been bonkers. i find it fascinating how each age has its own version of what ghosts do. We are all orbs now. They didn’t exist when I was a girl, but poltergeists were hot in the seventies, anyone remember the reports in the tabloids of the Enfield poltergeist? i love pre raphaelite too. Those dreamy sensual lips and masses of hair, and that’s just the blokes!

Have you been to Wightwick Manor - National Trust- it has lots of pre Raphaelite paintings, as well as loads of William Morris fabrics and wallpapers. It's in Wolverhampton so maybe too far for most but if you're in the area it's worth a visit.

Cannon Hall also has a nice display of Evelyn De Morgan, highly recommended!

Somehow when watching the footage of the Enfield poltergeist I get the distinct impression they're not being completely truthful I used to love watching Strange But True on the box years ago, when ghosts were people shaped rather than floating bubbles. I keep an open mind
