Me too if I was unable to clear it straight away.
I'm not sure how liable Tom would be if the debt accrued before the marriage, but ex S-i-L ran up massive debt without D's knowledge after their marriage and she lost her home because of him . She'd bought her own flat with an inheritance from her grandfather . Ex must have seen £ signs when she sold her flat to put towards the house and he collared the lot having to pay the debts.
needless to say D divorced him and he went on to fleece wife 2 and after divorce 2 he's continued to muck up the life of the woman he latched on to after wife 2.
And she doesn't seem to care! What on earth can she have spent that much on? And for how long has it been going on!
I use a credit card for paypal, and online purchases as there's some security if things go wrong with the purchase. But only for things I'd be buying anyway and I pay it all off every month from my current account. Not for fripperies. Essentials (in no particular order) such as online Sinsbury's groceries, new knickers recently, and knitting yarn.

Just Pondering... She is (allegedly) running a business.. Fruit growing or Apple Pressing into fruit drinks, or face plastering, or any combination of more than one business and any we don't know. But is the card a) One of those businesses, b) all of those businesses, c) Some of those businisses, d) None of those businesses, or, e) one or more businesses mixed up with non-business?
If it was non-business I'd be Panicking, but we get too little information to take the whole stupid story-writing considering. (There are people who have started businesses with a Barclaycard): But if it was a business, I'd be wondering what the bank knows that wont give her something more secure.
Good point GLO. She is supposed to be this fabtabulous business woman so I'm surprised she is so careless with money. I presume the credit card bill is for her personal expenses, to keep up a certain type of life style she thinks is 'cool' I presume. You would hope that the business side of it is separate financially. I think the doing makeovers thing is a bit odd. Isn't she supposed to be producing fruit juices or something? Are the makeovers just a hobby?
