I was inspired by hearing about that endurance athlete lady who is swimming the channel there and back there and back. Four times in a row. At dinner time she was approaching the French coast for the second time.
i mean wow! You would be hallucinating sea monsters after all that. And I always wonder how they stay pointing in the right direction. Does the boat accompaniment keep poking them if they go off track? Anyway, respect.
so I bought a cossy for my enormous bulk in the hope doing it regular might help me lose a few pounds. I managed to fine a garish one in a corner of TKMaxx reduced to four quid. Like no one goes swimming when summer is done, we all buy Halloween masks and chunky jumpers.
oi, less of the chunky. If I can lose anything like some stones I will be pleased, but I think I have that special fat that doesn’t move.
I used to swim every day when I was unemployed ‘cos if unwaged you could do it for free. I am also trained as a swimming teacher, so even though I haven’t swam for years I am not unfit and I still think I will be faster than those in the slow lane because I know how to do it properly for a start.
It’s about making your body efficient in how you face the wall of water in front of you, cutting through it with your hands and using your length like a propeller (in crawl, my best stroke)
Really looking forward to it. Going tonight. Will report. Really want to start losing weight now. I am fed up with looking like the side of a house.

There used to be a Swimming pool here - Newly built in the Big park, when I moved hear. Now Newly demolitiod and filled with Housing - You may have seen my mention of The Extreme Helicoptor Lurking during the night - I now hear that those Houses had extreme armed police presence at that time. - That was where the Proud Householders Has a "Pride" Procession earlier that Afternoon. No idea what they were Proud about. There was another pool at 'tother end of Town, But a supermarket outfit bought the space to rebuild - then didn't want it so sold it ... So another bit of the That No-Big Park was destroyed for that nice Prince wotsit and His Wife came and opened an even Bigger Sport Centre/Pool/cafe/enormous carpark, this year - The car park is where the caravan "Travellers" took possesion, but these had gone in time for the armed police/Helichoptors took their place...
Anyone got any Headache Pills - Nursey won't allow me to take aspirins... and I might have a house going very Cheap, soon.
Well, I went for my first swim in about four years tonight. I loved it. It was like wrestling with water at first, my creaky joints remembering they can stretch out and breathe. I had a time limit as I had to go to mywriting group so I only had about half an hour but I thought it would be good to get me started. I did twenty four lengths. I could have done more as I had loosened up nicely by that time but had to go and sort my hair out and get off to the group.
I love it when you twist your mouth round to breathe from that little hollow left as your overarm comes up for the stroke. Crawl is best. I did a few in breast stroke but that feels like you are going nowhere slow. It’s a great work out for a double chin though lol.
So I will do that every Wednesday and see how it goes. I felt lithe and snakey afterwards. Still look like a dumpling but hopefully that will change.
I know once a week will not do much but I do other exercise as well so it isn’t the only thing. I really want to lose a few dress sizes and get a waist back again.

Way to go Demdike, you'll see the benefits as well as feel them. I used to love walking, OH and I did a lot of fellwalking but we don't do any these days as his back isn't up to a long distance walk. Not sure my feet are either but would love to get out for even a short yomp. Miss the dog for walks too.
